Giving Power of Attorney
BPrs I'm hoping you can offer some advice with this matter. Let me preface this by saying I do understand that laws are different from state to state and in this case from country to country.
To make a long story short, my wife has a small inheritance (home in DR) that is being divided among many. The original property would be divided among three people, then, because her dad (one of the original 3 people) passed away, his share or 1/3 is being divided among 4 children (one being my wife). My wife is giving her brother POA over her share, which I'm okay with, but concerned because my in-law sent some generic letter that seemed too vague. Is it even wise to give POA to someone, (even if her bro) using a generic letter, even if she is the one who writes it out? Should she use an attorney, regardless how small the inheritance is?
My apologies for the ignorance in this matter. Things that should be obvious sometimes aren't obvious at all.
Thank you ahead of time!
