When can I start taking depreciation?

I purchased my first SFR, closed on December 18, 2015. When can I begin taking the depreciation benefit? Can I take a one-month, a half-year, or even a year's worth of depreciation in the 2015 tax year given that I will have only owned the property for a few weeks in 2015?
