What are things to look for in a CPA
If I want a new CPA - mines retiring in 2014 - what do I need to look for? I have asked him to recommend someone as I do not have a rental yet.
Other than asking "hey - you work with landlords?" What would be some specific questions to ask.
I want a CPA to help guide me in the correct direction to minimize my tax liability. I feel they should know the law better than I ever could. I don't want them to run my business but being helpful helps.
Asking "how do you add value to your clients portfolio?" Seems appropriate.
Is it the responsibility of the CPA to minimize tax liability? ie Do they have a fiduciary responsibility to do so?
I know I am all over the place with this but I hope to get an all over the place response.
I will be purchasing my first home - a duplex - in Jan. My current CPA is going to assist.
