Canadians Investing in the USA - How to not get steamrolled by taxes?

Hi there! We are Canadians eyeing up the market in the USA and looking to start investing in properties across the border.  We need to learn more about how taxes work as foreign nationals investing in the USA, and what entities are best for tax/legal purposes.  Is there anyone out there with any advice? Or with any recommendations for professionals that have expertise in this area?

Thanks!
