Depreciation against W2 - Income

Amby Bhagtani
Posted

Hello,

I make a money through W2 as well as stock options. Right now my taxes are high, due to stocks. I am curious does depreciation of rental assests reduce the total taxable income?

Thanks,

Amby

@Amby Bhagtani more details are needed here - don't be stingy!

Yes, rental losses can be used to offset non-passive income (W-2, 1099, etc.) BUT this depends on several factors that you didn't provide, including:
- Are you going to participate

- Will this be short-term/long-term

- More things
