Upstate NY Eviction Attorney
Hey BP,
I purchased a duplex in Oswego NY back in August. One of my tenants has not paid me since then. My property manager said she has been trying to serve the papers since the end of September and has not been able to get in touch with the tenant. She also mentioned she hired an eviction advocate to serve this tenant, but that person has not had any luck as well. My property manager will not give me the name or the contact info of this advocate. She does not even update me on this matter.......At this point I feel like I am being lied to and want to take this into my own hands. It has been just about 6 months now and over 5k of lost rent. The tenant's lease expires this December (in 10 days) and I have a strong feeling she will not be leaving. I am looking for recommendations on eviction attorneys, preferably in Oswego NY area.
Thanks!

@Mike Bonomo I think it is time for a new property manager. From my quick search. A process server does not have to serve the tenant but can post in a conspicuous place at the rental, ie front door. Contact an eviction attorney asap and get this tenant out. The tenant should have been evicted by now. it would have been cheaper to contact an attorney right away rather than postponing the eviction for 5 months. NY is a tenant friendly state and it might take you 3 months more to get them out.
