What would you do? GC problem, worth trying to solve?

Long story short: we are new to the game and the GC ran off with about $22k. What would you do? Take it as an expensive lesson? File a lawsuit? The contractor had us writing checks to his name and not his LLC name.

@Cyndi Blalock

1. File criminal charges

2. File with state board of contractors

3. Have attorney file monetary judgement

Monetary judgment would not cost more than a few grand.
