Can I pay myself with my IRA for the work I do?

I just recently opened a self directed IRA and have not purchased anything yet but I have been looking. I was wondering if I purchased a place and did the repairs myself can I pay myself like a contractor or would that not be the correct way to do it. Any help would be appreciated.
