Ownwell- protest property tax. Is this company legit?

All - received a marketing mailer today for my SA properties. They essentially protest your property tax and then you just pay 25% of savings. Is this legit? Or is this company a scam?

Clients of mine have used https://hometaxshield.com/ and been fairly happy with their services. They do the same thing as the company you posted about.

 I received similar mail from them. Did you do your protest through them?

I am curious as well if these type of companies provide any value?  I filed a protest on my own and got it reduced a bit....

@Manju Nat

I got the same mailers on several properties and the value that they said my properties were worth were no where near accurate. I personally protest my own using the CMA data my realtor provides for free and have had very good success over the years.

I think the market value is higher than my tax assessed value so that might not help me.

Has anyone had any success with Ownwell.com ?

What do they charge if they are not able to reduce your taxes ?

    Their 25% fee is based on the actual property tax savings.  If they aren't able to reduce your taxes then they don't get paid.

    I assume they are selective about which appeals they will take on since there is no benefit to them or the homeowner to not be able to win an appeal, but I have no knowledge of their internal business logic.

    As of this year, Ownwell also charges a $100 property tax freeze fee. So, for example, they reduced my taxes by $126 this year but I paid more than that because the 25% plus $100 freeze fee added up to $138 (but at least the assessment is frozen for the next two years).

    @Ellen Cheng

    What kind of personal info did you give up to Ownwell for them to protest on your behalf ?
