How do you finance your RE investments when your goal is to grow?

Hello everyone. I’m new to the BiggerPockets world so please bear with me while I ask what may be a silly question.

When trying to grow your RE portfolio, what method of financing do you use? When I think of growing and purchasing more properties, I only think of traditional lending through a bank. My thinking behind this is that your salaried income (if RE isn’t full time for you yet) may not be increasing at the rate you are trying to grow, so saving the money you need may take years until you can comfortably do so. What are some options out there? And what have you all used to grow your portfolio?
