How to qualify for a VA loan

I'm just curious about this. I don't know anything about VA loans because I don't qualify. Would anyone RECOMMEND joining the military for the minimal time JUST to qualify for VA loans? What are the minimum requirements in service to be considered for a VA loan? I've tried googling it but it always asks for my specific information to see if I qualify.

@Jonathan Escobar What I'm about to say is harsh, so take it with a grain of salt...

If your sole motivation for joining the military is to qualify for the VA loan...WE DON'T WANT YOU!

That being said, if you want to join the military, the VA loan is a great benefit...but the FHA loan is fine and doesn't involve you signing up for four years of your life.

I just wrote two articles on the VA loan for BiggerPockets, they will explain everything you need to know about the VA loan, check them out on the BP Blog.
