Applying for a grant.

Hello everyone. My partners recently purchased an apartment/restaurant that needs a lot of work. They plan on doing a restaurant/yoga studio on the ground floor and a hostel type housing upstairs. There is plenty of work that needs to be done and they are searching for ways to fund the project. The renovation would be great for the community. Are they able to apply for a grant to help pay for the rehab? Are there any other creative ways to get this project funded? Thanks for any advice!
