Any berm homes sold in California?

I was wondering if anyone has ever sold or bought a berm home in California?  It appraised over the purchase price, but would not fund because there are no comps that myself, the appraiser, or the lenders could find. 

When I listed the property we asked several lenders if they could finance the property and they all said yes, but ended up not being able to.  Just wanted to know if anyone else has ran into this problem or found a solution?
