Funding From Overseas!

I have business partners in Singapore and they want to use a REIT to buy single family houses in Chicago. We have been doing this through an LLC and the admin and accounting is already tough. I hear a REIT is much more restrictive. They want to bring 100+ small overseas investors onboard who will contribute in increments of $5,000 or more. Does anyone have any suggestions on a better funding structure than a REIT? I heard something about cloud sourcing but I am not sure how this would work.

Thanks,

Ian
