Subject 2 insurance

Posted

I am in escrow on a subject 2 deal. Do I get a new separate insurance policy in my name? Will there be any issue if there is a claim and I am not on the loan?

Hi Dennis. they can add you as an additional insured on the existing policy. There should be no need to put in your name directly., As the prior post noted the insurer will likely not insure you directly. As a subto deal it stays in the owner's name with you added to the policy until you decide to refi. Hope that helps.
