HELOC on home purchased with VA loan?

Hello everyone,

I am new to investing in real estate. I am Military and have a home that I purchased with a VA loan. I moved and this home became a rental. I have equity that I would like to tap into to do a BRRRR. I was told by a bank that I cannot do a HELOC on this property since it is now an investment property. Does anyone know another way to get that equity? By the way, I just refinanced this loan a few months ago. Thank you
