What is your Experience with VA loans?

Hello All, recently a lightbulb came into my head that I am eligible for a VA loan seeing my father is a veteran. Just wanted to know how everyone's experience with this is like? I want the bad and good, if there is any bad? Is it a hassle, is it easy. Is there a lot of restrictions? Does it take awhile to receive?

I was going to apply for a conventional non VA loan but holding off untill I get more info on this type of loan.
