I recorded a "Deed of Trust with Assignment of Rents" yesterday at the Los Angeles recorders office and the recorder said $70, I said, wow, that seems like a lot for a 4 page document, how come it's so much, he said, well, you have have two documents here, a Deed of Trust AND Assignment of Rents, I said, oh, I see, and paid, all the while thinking this is nuts and just wanting to get the heck out of there. What am I going to say, I'll take my business elsewhere.

Does this sound right?? Shouldn't it be a per page cost.

Hmmm, maybe next time I'll take "Assignement of Rents" out of the title and get a towfer.

I wonder how much if would have been if the document title had also made mention of the Due on Sale Clause.
