Pre-approval mortgage advice

Daniel W.
Posted

Hello everyone! My partner and I are newbies to the REI world and are starting to look in our area for either a multi-family or a single-family (Cincinnati, OH). We began the pre-approval process pretty confident that we would get approved for the amount we were targeting...and I already ran into my first hang-up. I was told by the mortgage company that because I am a travel nurse and have not been working a full 2 years in this role that I cannot jointly apply for this mortgage. This was a job change in Dec 2020 but I have been a nurse for over 2 years (with full time work). If anyone has any advice or experience with this, especially working with travel nurses, I would greatly appreciate your feedback!
