Canadian TN visa holder - Can I qualify for a mortgage in 1 year?

K K.

I am a Canadian looking to move to the US on a TN visa (NAFTA professionals temporary resident visa) and wondering how long it would realistically take to qualify for a first mortgage.

Considering that I have no credit history in the US, a decent salary, and don't want to do business with Canadian banks in the US (i.e. will have to solely rely on my US-based credit history), how fast do you think I can qualify for a traditional mortgage?

This might be a vague question/lacking information, so please do not hesitate to ask for clarifications.

Thanks a lot!
