Can I get some advice on FHA loan for a primary residence?

I've been beaten myself up on how to get start Investing with real estate. I know I need to start with a primary residence but while working a full time job in construction almost 60-70 hours a week. It makes it difficult to find the right property for my family. I have a good enough down payment for a home but if I can save some of my down payment for repair cost, than it would be worth. This is why I'm looking into an FHA loan. Just need to get some advice on where to start.
