Invalid Use Cases for Asset Based / Portfolio LOC's?

I'm new to the concept of asset based or portfolio LOC's. What are some invalid use cases? The sense I get is they're primarily for renovations & rehabs.

Is it possible to draw funds via these kinds of LOC's to fund an expanding business in a vertical unrelated to the underlying asset or even real estate in general? Say for inventory purchases in an expanding ecommerce business?
