Need to refi, do I LLC or not?

I've listen to a lot of podcast but they never seem to go over this part. My first home is now a rental, I want to refi it to get access to the appreciated equity in the house to get more doors. It is still in my name. I want to move it to an LLC to get some liability protection. How is this done? All the banks I talked to will not refi a LLC property. Am I talking to the wrong companies? Or would I have to sell this property to my LLC?
