Seller Takes Home Staging to the Extreme to Market Her $35 MM Property

Professional staging as really taken off in recent years as a means to better market and sell real estate. But this home seller in Malibu, California brings new meaning to the term, ‘home staging.’

This woman recently hired a Hollywood film crew to use her home in Malibu as the stage for a big budget film production. The money she spent was all in an effort to market the home. She also designed a custom iPad application featuring the home, which cost $20,000. She then bought 10 iPads, installed the app on them, and then gave them away to real estate agents and prospective buyers.

Because there is so much competition in the high-end home market, such tactics may not be necessary but are certainly newsworthy. Here’s a link to the article: http://mashable.com/2012/07/13/realtor-makes-sci-fi-movie/

Some of our fix and flip real estate investors have gotten the home staging thing down to a science. What are some of the most creative, home-staging techniques that you’ve seen this year? Please share.
