So my goal was to purchase a duplex/triplex/4plex by Jan 2020 with a VA loan and 0% down and house hack the additional units. However I just realized most of my personal income doesn't count for the loan and I will only beable to use my VA compensation income on the loan. This would mean I could only get about a 100k loan and would need to buy a single family home. My question is should I attempt to get some other soirces of funding so I can purchase a multifamily home or should I just get the single family home and suck it up for my first buy?
