Credit Union won’t fund Heloc if it’s for investment purpose?

Hi all! This is my first post and I hope someone can shed some light on my topic. I recently applied for a Heloc through a credit union and was denied the loan. When I called the representative to find out the reason why, he stated that since I picked “investment” as the reason for the Heloc that they were not going to fund me.  Has anyone been denied a Heloc for investment purposes? The rep also said this is true for all Helocs.  What am I missing here? There’s videos all over encouraging the use of Helocs for investment purposes. Help!
