Debt Collection - do it yourself?

I was curious who out there does their own 3rd party collections if they have someone who owes them debt. Reason I inquire is I am looking for where to get information in case I ever need to speak with a borrower that I am playing by the FDCPA rules and do what is correct as a Debt Collector. Any insights on where to get any training / certification is greatly appreciated.
