Proposing a Deal to a Private Lender

BP Team,

I am packaging a deal to propose private investor and am unsure on event sequencing. Would you recommend having the deal vetted through my lawyer before proposing the deal to a private investor or waiting until the deal and negotiations are finalized with the private investor to get a lawyer to review?

I want to ensure I am doing/showing my due diligence in the process, and I don't want to seem like I am passing the buck onto the private investor.
