Getting a mortgage with seasonal work - Help!

Hi,

I'm in the process of buying a house and have passed most necessary hurdles with the closing date set for Jan 8. I'm doing conventional and my employer has already completed the written verification of my employment. However, this job is seasonal, it's set to end next week, then I'll have 3 months to collect unemployment before the season starts again. The lender never asked if it was seasonal work so I hadn't mentioned that it was. Also, it's my first year doing seasonal work (although it's related to my previous work) so I don't have 2 years of history to prove that the unemployment's normal and that I'll be working again in the spring. I thought that the timing was all right because I would have secured the mortgage before the work season ends, but I just found out that it seems that they do an additional VERBAL verification of employment with my employer NOT MORE THAN 10 days before closing... By that time, I will be on unemployment and will technically not be her employee. All of a sudden it seems like all this money (inspection, appraisal) and time will be a waste because of the verbal verification of employment right before closing, and I don't know what to do! If anyone has any thoughts on this, I will so appreciate it. Thanks!
