American Citizen living in Canada needs a mortgage in US

Hi all,

My father and I are planning on partnering to buy some rental properties in the US. We both live in Canada and fortunately my Dad has dual citizenship. I am looking for advice on how we can determine whether or not he/we can qualify for conventional financing? Is there a way of determining this before taking an expensive trip to the USA to meet with banks?
