How to collect Borrower data for pre-approval

Hi all,

I'm fairly new here, but have been finding the site to be very useful so far!

My company offers private mortgages for certain individuals who cannot qualify for a conventional loan. We have been collecting their pre-approval data via an Excel spreadsheet, but we are finding that some people don't have Excel (ex. mac users) and it is also somewhat cumbersome for the borrower to save the file then log into their email, and send it back to us. I'm wondering if there's a better way to get the data for pre-approval, such as an embedded Google form directly on our website. I've seen that Google provides that option, but I'm worried about this from a security standpoint. I don't know how comfortable people would be to provide their SSN and income information, although the way we are doing it now is probably not that much different since emails get hacked too. Any thoughts?

Andreea
