I just saw a list of "troubled" banks and it looks like there will be  house cleaning before you know it. I'd recommend that people have more than one bank they are dealing with. 

Along with that,

 Do not put more than $249000 into one bank. Better still have checking accounts where you put your funds in different baskets to avoid getting stuck for weeks.
