Former Tenant Filed Bankruptcy - Mortgage company claiming property is in bankruptcy

Robert Fortune
Posted

I called my mortgage service provider today to get some information in regards to escrow/home owners insurance and they told me they couldn't speak to me because my property is in "bankruptcy".

They claim they received notification from a court that one of my former tenants listed my property as their place of residence and that if I want more information I must contact my tenants lawyer for more information. But they will not be able to talk to me about my loan or loan details. They also refused to give me a copy of the notice or any contact information for the lawyer or former tenant.

They even locked me out of my online account and advised me that all my auto payments will be stopped and I must make them manually by calling in until this is resolved.

Anyone ever hear of something like this before? The tenant was obviously never on my loan or anything like that.

@Robert Fortune  My guess is you need to get higher up the than a front line person that answers the phone. They have NO legal relationship with your tenant. They do have a legal relatioship with you.  Be persistant but respectful.

Othe than that you may need your attorney involved.

PS who is the lender/servicer

PPS I see this is your first post, welcome to BP
