Appraisals for Unique Homes

Is there an appraiser near Asheville NC who would provide me with some assurances before I undertake the construction of a unique structure that I would later like to refinance?

If I have the design plans drawn up is there a way to get an estimated appraisal value?

Note: I was going to use hard money / private money

Thanks!

Hey @Kyler J Sloan. Ricky McClure, William Kovalsky, or Matthew Todd may be willing to consult for you on these type of things, to help set you up for success. They fulfill most of our appraisals for Haywood and Jackson County. I'll send you their contact info.

I agree with what others have said above. Thus, if you're going to go for unique, I would recommend either (a) spending little and doing much of the work yourself, or perhaps better, (b) making a property unique by modular enhancements. Meaning, buy a stick built home and make enhancements and feature additions that can be undone or removed, and thereby retain an ability to refinance or sell the home to a financed buyer in the future.
