Another Ocwen post, worried
Hello,
I am not sure if this is the correct place for this but I am looking for some advice in what Ocwen may be trying to do. They bought my 2nd from gmac not long ago. No real problems other then them not sending statements for a while. But it was enough to make me research who they are, after I saw I took steps to pay it off and get rid of them.
Here is were the potential problem starts. I sent the following over night sig required.
1. Current pay off quote from them
2. Cashers check
3. Copy of the original loan doc that stated no pre payment penalty.
and a notarized letter with witness's as to what was in the mailer and the account this was paying off, along with account number on check of course.
So they post the check the day after they got it. About four days later I get
a notification of payoff from that west palm beach office. They took my account number and put two duplicate digits on either end of it then listed
some other borrowers name saying it was paid in full.
I called the 800 number and they tell me my account is paid off, I had him confirm my account number and it was correct. I requested a correct payoff notice and have yet to get it. So what are they trying to do here?
Are they going to try and pull something like not send statements then come back latter and say I am late and it had never been paid off?
I have the canceled check with my account number on it and them having put a check mark by it. Maybe I am just being paranoid and they just made a mistake but there are too many things wrong with that payoff notice, it looks fabricated to me. For example they have the original loan date the same year as mine and the total was only 3k difference.
I have not replied to that notice thinking it may just make things worse since I had already called customer care on it.
I would be very thank full for any advice.
Thanks all.

Hello John,
Here is a link to the recorder's office in Palm Beach County, where you can do an online search of the original borrower's name to see if a release has been filed yet:
