What drove you to start investing in real estate?

For me I picked up a book that opened my mind to a new world that I wanted to step in to, I'm 23, and knew I never wanted to work for someone else, so I recently bought 4 of the bigger pockets real estate books, but want to further my knowledge by connecting with other investors, to hear about there journeys on success, the hardships they dealt with and over came! How they landed they're best/ favorite deal, what pushes them every day to find that close to perfect deal. Because one day maybe I'll follow in your steps to achieve the same for me, so please share everything your willing to offer!!
