Using a Credit Card to fund a Remodel
Iv been putting purchases on a credit card to fund a remodel (15k limit)
Iv been running up my credit card to the limit each month or even multiple times a month because of the repairs and purchases for the remodel. I have access to plenty of liquid cash and iv been paying my card off every month or even twice a month and never carry a balance. But my credit score keeps dropping (im guessing because of the usage and hitting my limit so much).
Iv called Transunion and asked them about this (they were no help)
and I called CapitalOne to up my limit hoping this would help in the future.
Has anyone else run into this problem?
And does anyone have any alternative suggestions to what I can do or could have done to avoid this?

One of the components of your credit score is called credit utilization. If you’re Maxing out your available credit, the credit bureaus see that as a negative thing because it effectively looks like you may be living month to month. The ideal utilization percentage is between 1-10%. So if you have a $15K limit, using up to $1,500 is ideal.
