New construction during covid?

Is anyone building new rental units as opposed to buying existing properties?  Some people say our real estate market is hot right now!  Inventory is low and price to purchase are high, but the cost of lumber for building is also at an all-time high!

I'm curious if anyone is building new construction multi-family and what your experiences have been.  How has covid affected the way new builds will come into the market?  Thoughtful design changes, financing, lease-up strategy, etc.  Any comments are welcome!
