Tips for when I get out of high school?

I’ve been reading books and watching videos on real estate investing for almost 2 years now. I’ve grown an insane obsession about it and am really interested in getting started. I’ve done some easy ones such as becoming an authorized user with someone that has good credit, and I also plan on attending some real estate meetups in my area once covid starts to get more tamed and I don’t plan on stopping reading and learning about rental property investing. I’ve been told that I’m gonna regret pursuing this route and become a failure by many friends and family but I still think it’s something I can find success in and actually enjoy. Do you guys have any advice on what I can do now to better prepare myself?
