New to real estate investing

Hi my name is Bryan, I am a 21 year old university student located in Edmonton Alberta Canada. I have been interested in investing in real estate for some time now and have learned lots through various videos. I am also working towards obtaining my residential real estate license here in Alberta. I will complete the licensing program In the next few months. As a newbie to investing, i wonder:

How did you get started with your very first deal whether it be wholesale, fix n flip, or rental properties. Did you have a mentor? And if so how did you find that mentor to help you along the way?
