What's Next for This Property?

While out driving I came a cross a property that fit the bill for a fixer upper. I determined that it was empty and had been for a while. I spoke to one of the neighbors and she informed me that no one had lived in the house for over a year. Checking public records I was able to get a name for the owner who resided in another state. Other than mail and a phone call how else can I get more info on the current  situation with the property?
