Tips on Getting started

I live in Utah County and my wife and i are wanting to get started in Real Estate. Hopefully buy our first property in Utah County within the next few months. Hopefully looking for a duplex, triplex or quad and live in one and rent out the others. Any general tips or things you wish you would have done on your first deal? Or those that invest in Utah any tips for us going in?

Hey @Nathan Clawson, congrats on moving that direction, it’s one of the best financial choices you can make. Something to consider is that the financing is different depending on the number of units (usually more difficult for more than two units when trying to do a low downpayment owner occupied situation). I’ve gone the two unit route 3 times now in Provo and it’s worked out quite well. I’ve also helped a lot of clients get started house hacking, it’s one of my specialties. There are some important things to know when it comes to zoning as well. I’d be happy to chat with you about that and the rest of the process and what I’ve done, including what my numbers look like.
