Nonprofit Church Corporation Buying Real estate Legality?

It was recently brought to my attention that an out of state church corporation recently purchased some farm ground where there is an anti-corporation farming law. Trying to figure out how a non-profit corporation, can purchase farm ground and make a profit from it legally.
