I see a lot of posts about finding PML's but I am looking for information about becoming a PML. I would prefer to actually know or at least meet the borrower. Is that a thing? Where can I go to learn what type of returns are available? Oh and...I'm assuming this is considered Portfolio Income...anyone know for sure?

go to the local FIBI events  talk to Jeremy Roll  his he wicked smart LA based and between him and all the members you will have no problem finding borrowers.. Keep in mind in CA if you go over a certain threshold you need a license or you need a broker to do the actual paper work and disclosures..  good luck.
