Foreclosure and sewer lien question
I purchased a home on the county court steps recently in Pa. After the sale I contacted the local sewer authority. They said they had a sewer lien on the property, dating back to 2005. In addition to the liens, they also told me about a $5000 balance that went to “collections”. They gave me a phone number to Portnoff Law Firm out of Pa.
I check with the county and there are 2 leans on the property dating back to 2005.
I have paid sewer lien in the past and in those situations the debt stayed with the sewer department. I paid them even though they debt was not on record with he courthouse.
My question: By hiring this firm, did the debt take on a form, in which it is no longer associated with the house? I find it odd that the debt that went to the collections agency was the more recent debt.
Thanks
