Where to house hack in New Jersey
I am looking to purchase a multifamily in New Jersey to house hack via FHA loan. I have two school aged children and need an area that has good schools and is within 40-50 mins from Staten Island (I will be commuting to work there). The area has to also be desirable so I can rent the second unit. I plan on staying there 1-2 years, refinance, and move out.
Do you have any recommendations for such areas in NJ that will appreciate over time and are desirable for people to want to rent (as I plan to hold on to the property long term)?
Thank you all in advance for your recommendations and input.

Your best bet would be to work with a realtor. Draw a circle around the area where you want to live (distance-wise). And then ask realtor to guide you to better school districts. You can and should of course verify the info offered via nj.com, niche.com, greatschools.com and many others.
In addition almost every town has its own parents FB page - those are also pretty good resources to tap into.
Best of luck!
