IRA question for my mother
Hi all I have a question from my mother. I am unable to advise hoping one of you fine folks can.
She divorced and was awarded 55% of her husband's retirement. I believe is in the form of an IRA. She is unable to retrieve the full amount until he retires so she wishes to borrow against for the sole purpose of investing my guess would be a 1031 purchase or if possible to do a little hard money lending. What steps does she need to get started. Has anyone here ever have come across a scenario like this or similar if yes if I may ask how did you get the ball rolling? Thanks in advance any advice is greatly appreciated.

Have her Look into a QDRO maybe she can get the account now. Otherwise it is more like a structured settlement and it could be prohibited as well to try to borrow against it.
