Options in restrucuring partnership

My friend and I are 50/50 partners on a couple of investment properties. At this time he is taking on more of the work so we are looking to make sure things remain fair. Is there a way for me to reduce the share I have in the investments but still have the option to regain that share in the future when we are able to be more 50/50 partners again? Right now, he is keeping a portion of the rents that we bring in but I am not sure it is the right amount. Is there an industry standard around this? If I were to sell my share in the properties, what is the best way to do this? How do I make sure we are calculating the value of the properties correctly and what are some options for payment plans.

Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
