Best free resource to find fee info on real estate funds & REITs?

I just began an analyst internship for an investment company that focuses on real estate. My supervisor asked me to organize a fee matrix that compares the management and other fees charged by a private fund, a public REIT, our company, and the average merchant builder. What are some of the best free resources that a college student could use to gather fee data on these types of entities? It was easy enough to search through prospectuses, but gathering a national average for merchant builder fees is proving more difficult than I thought, mostly because it's hard to find a place where they've been consolidated. Even a recent study that collected fee info would be appreciated. Many thanks!
