Question about Long Distance Financing

Hi guys, quick question about financing a long distance rental property.

So I've been looking for a private lender to handle financing a property plus it's repair costs. It's on the other side of the country (talking Canada here) and so far I've just been googling around for them but I've realized that I'm not sure where to find that financing. Would it be better to try to find my lender in my local town or should I try to get it in the market I'm looking to buy in? Does anyone have a better way that they went about finding a lender?

Thanks
